Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 6 7
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • yeast - 1 Tbsp
  • hot tap water - 2 c
  • sourdough - 1 c

How to make sourdough bread:

To hot water (120°), add yeast, sugar and salt. Add sourdough. Mix in 6 to 7 cups flour and soda. Knead until very elastic, but tender. Be sure and don't add too much flour, your loaves will be brickish!

Coat ball with oil, let rise until big. Punch down, knead 30 seconds, shape into French bread shapes or put into 3 small loaf pans or 2 large loaf pans. Let rise until big. Bake at 375° until light golden brown. Cool 10 to 15 minutes before eating.
