Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • instant potato flakes - 3 Tbsp
  • RapidRise yeast - 1 pkg
  • hot water - 1 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • corn oil - 1/2 c
  • warm water
  • bread flour - 6 c

How to make sourdough bread:

Step 1 (Morning): Mix first 4 ingredients and let set all day at room temperature.

Step 2 (Night): Use this mixture and next 5 ingredients to make a stiff batter. Place dough in large greased bowl and grease the top of dough. Let stand overnight in warm place.

Step 3 (Morning): Punch down and add enough flour to keep from sticking to hands. Divide into 3 parts and place each into large greased loaf pans. Let rise in warm place 5 to 6 hours.

Step 4: Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Butter top and remove from pan to cool.
