Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips - 1/2 c
  • dairy sour cream
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine, softened - 3/4 c
  • packed light brown sugar
  • ground cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • ground nutmeg - 1/2 tsp

How to make sour cream coffee cake:

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt pan or large tube pan.

Beat butter in a large bowl, with an electric mixer on medium speed, until creamy. Add brown sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until well blended.

Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl. Add to butter mixture on low speed alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Spoon into prepared pan. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 15 minutes. Remove from pan to wire rack; cool completely. Store, tightly covered, at room temperature. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
