Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla
- milk
- sour cream - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 3/4 c
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- sifted cake flour - 3 c
- sifted confectioners sugar
- Add sour cream, egg yolks and vanilla; mix well
How to make sour cream cake:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add sour cream, egg yolks and vanilla; mix well. Add combined dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch layer cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Fill and frost with Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting.Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting:1/2 c. sour cream1/4 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla4 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar1/4 c. cocoa Combine sour cream, butter and vanilla; mix until well blended.
