  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt
  • flour - 4 c
  • soda - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c

How to make soft sugar cookies:

Note: Omit baking powder, soda and salt if using self-rising flour.

Cream shortening and sugar with mixer. Add eggs and beat. Mix vanilla with milk and beat in the mixture. Mix in 2 cups flour and beat again. Stir in last 2 cups flour by hand. Roll out on floured board and cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350° for about 10 minutes. Yields 5 to 6 dozen cookies.
