Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 tsp
  • plain flour
  • raisins - 2 c

How to make soft raisin cookies:

Combine raisins and water in small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook 3 minutes. Cool; do not drain. In mixing bowl, cream shortening. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla, then add dry ingredients to cream mixture; cream well. Stir in nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoon 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 12 to 14 minutes. Yields 6 dozen.
