Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/8 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • cornstarch - 3 tsp
  • boiling water - 2 c
  • molasses - 1 c
  • plain flour
  • white sugar - 1/3 c
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • soda, dissolved in 1 c - 2 tsp
  • Then add eggs
  • each: ginger, cinnamon and cloves - 1 tsp

How to make soft gingerbread:

Mix the first 4 ingredients together and add soda and flour. Then add eggs. Bake in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan at 350° for 30 minutes or until springs back like a cake.Gingerbread Sauce:2/3 c. brown sugar1/3 c. white sugar3 tsp. cornstarch1/8 tsp. salt2 c. boiling water4 Tbsp. butter1 tsp. vanilla Boil until thickened. Serve over gingerbread squares.
