Ingredients/Components
- cup flour - 1 item
- cup water - 1/4 item
- cup all purpose flour - 1/3 item
- teaspoon pepper - 1 item
- teaspoon salt - 1 item
- tablespoons vegetable oil - 4 item
- cup red wine - 1/3 item
- cups beef broth - 2 item
- onion thinly sliced - 1 item
- Gravy:1 can cream of mushroom soup
- tablespoon seasoning salt - 1 item
- - 4 ounces cube steaks - 6 item
- ounces mushrooms sliced - 8 item
How to make smothered steak:
Gravy:1 can cream of mushroom soup2 cups beef broth1/3 cup all purpose flour1/4 cup water1/3 cup red wine1 onion (thinly sliced)8 ounces mushrooms (sliced) Steak: Mix flour with seasonings. Coat steaks with flour mixture. Fry in hot oil until cooked thoroughly and brown.Gravy: Heat broth and soup until boiling. In a small bowl mix water and flour until well blended, without lumps. Using a whisk mix flour mixture in hot broth mixture until smooth thick gravy forms. Add wine, onions, and mushrooms. Place meat in one layer in a shallow baking pan. Cover with 1/2 of the gravy. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with remaining gravy.
