• Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • large potatoes, peeled and cubed - 3 item
  • carrots, peeled and diced - 4 item
  • large onion, peeled and finely chopped - 1 item
  • water to cover all - 1 item

How to make slumgullion:

Brown beef in skillet over moderate heat. Add onion as meat begins to brown. Drain off fat; add remaining ingredients; mix well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook 1 hour or more. Stir occasionally. Mixture should be thick when done. Vegetables should be tender. If you prefer it to be more like soup, add more water.

Note: This is a very versatile dish in that you may add whatever you have on hand. You may add peas, onions or more potatoes. You can serve it over mashed potatoes (the thick version).
