Simple salisbury steak
Ingredients/Components
- beaten egg - 1 item
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- finely chopped onion - 1/4 c
- dry seasoned bread crumbs - 1/3 c
- cans cream of mushroom soup, divided - 2 3/4
- fresh sliced mushrooms may use canned
How to make simple salisbury steak:
In large bowl, mix thoroughly 1/4 cup soup, the beef, onion, bread crumbs and egg. Shape into 6 oval patties of even thickness. Spray 10-inch skillet with cooking spray. Over medium-high heat, cook half of the patties until browned on both sides. Remove; set aside. Repeat with remaining patties. Spoon off fat. In same skillet, stir in remaining soups and mushrooms; return all patties to skillet. Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 20 minutes or until patties are thoroughly cooked, turning patties occasionally. Makes 6 servings.Note: May substitute ground turkey for the beef and increase dry bread crumbs to 1/2 cup. May also be used as meat balls instead of patties.
