Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 2 3
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • diced green pepper - 1 c
  • chili powder - 1/4 tsp
  • medium onion, thinly sliced - 1 item
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • sliced celery - 1/2 c
  • rice - 2 3
  • can whole tomatoes - 1 lb
  • dash hot pepper sauce - 1/8 item
  • shrimp, peeled and deveined - 1 lb
  • cooked ham in 1/2-inch cubes - 1/2 lb

How to make shrimp jambalaya:

Cook celery, green pepper and onion in half the butter or margarine, until tender but not brown; add garlic and ham; cook about 5 minutes longer. Add remaining butter, shrimp, salt, hot pepper sauce, chili powder and sugar and cook, tossing often with fork until shrimp are pink. Add tomatoes and heat. Stir in rice and serve immediately. Enjoy! Bake on medium-low heat for approximately 45 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
