Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 5 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- chopped celery - 1 c
- chopped onions
- can tomato sauce - 8 oz
- can tomato paste - 6 oz
- chopped parsley - 1/2 c
- cloves minced garlic - 2 item
- cooked rice - 2 3
- red pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chopped bell pepper - 1 c
- bacon grease - 1/4 c
- to 3 bay leaves - 2 item
- Tabasco sauce to taste - 1 item
- can chopped tomatoes - 16 oz
- peeled raw shrimp - 4 lb
How to make shrimp creole:
Make a dark brown roux of flour and grease in a heavy pot. Add vegetables and garlic; saute until soft. Add tomato paste; mix well. Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp, parsley and rice. Simmer slowly for one hour, covered, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp; cook until done (5 to 15 minutes). Garnish with parsley and serve over rice.Recipe categories: Seafood, Shellfish, Shrimp.
