  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 5 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 1 c
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • chopped onions
  • can tomato sauce - 8 oz
  • can tomato paste - 6 oz
  • chopped parsley - 1/2 c
  • cloves minced garlic - 2 item
  • cooked rice - 2 3
  • red pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped bell pepper - 1 c
  • bacon grease - 1/4 c
  • to 3 bay leaves - 2 item
  • Tabasco sauce to taste - 1 item
  • can chopped tomatoes - 16 oz
  • peeled raw shrimp - 4 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Make a dark brown roux of flour and grease in a heavy pot. Add vegetables and garlic; saute until soft. Add tomato paste; mix well. Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp, parsley and rice. Simmer slowly for one hour, covered, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp; cook until done (5 to 15 minutes). Garnish with parsley and serve over rice.
