Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt
- cornstarch - 2 tsp
- cold water - 1 Tbsp
- oil - 3 Tbsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chili powder - 1/2 1
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- fresh or frozen shelled shrimp - 12 oz
- dash of hot pepper bottled sauce - 1 item
How to make shrimp creole:
Cook onion, celery and garlic in oil until tender but not brown. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce, Worcestershire, salt, sugar, chili powder and hot pepper sauce. Simmer uncovered 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with cold water; stir into sauce. Cook and stir until bubbly. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover; simmer 5 minutes. Serve over cooked rice.
