Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 3 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- oil - 1/2 c
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- tomato paste - 1 can
- chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- onions, chopped - 1 c
- celery, chopped - 1 c
- tomato puree - 1 can
- bell pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
- each tomatoes - 2 cans
- chopped onion tops - 2 Tbsp
- Cajun mix or to taste - 1 Tbsp
- raw deveined shrimp - 3 lb
How to make shrimp creole:
Make roux out of flour and cooking oil over low to medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is brown. Add onions, celery, pepper and garlic; cook until soft. Add tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato puree, mix well and cook about 5 minutes. Add 6 cups water and Cajun herb. Mix to taste. Let simmer for one hour. Add raw shrimp, cook for 15 minutes. Just before serving, add salt, parsley and onion tops. Adjust seasonings as needed. Serve over rice. Serves 10.Recipe categories: Seafood, Shellfish, Shrimp.
