Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- can tomatoes 2 c - 1 lb
- can tomato sauce 1 c - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1/2 tsp
- dash of bottled hot pepper sauce - 1 item
- cornstarch - 2 tsp
- frozen shelled shrimp, halved - 12 oz
- green pepper - 1/2 c
How to make shrimp creole:
Cook onion, celery and garlic in shortening until tender, but not brown. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and next 5 ingredients; simmer, uncovered, 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water. Stir into sauce. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. Add shrimp and green pepper. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. (Serves 6.)Recipe categories: Seafood, Shellfish, Shrimp.
