Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 tsp
  • cooking oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 1
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • chopped tomatoes - 2 3
  • tomato sauce - 8 oz
  • dash of Tabasco sauce - 1 item
  • chopped bell pepper - 1/2 c
  • clove chopped garlic - 1 item
  • raw cleaned shrimp - 1 lb

How to make shrimp creole:

Cook onion, bell pepper, celery and garlic in hot oil until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and all seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 2 teaspoons water and use to thicken sauce. Add shrimp last and simmer, covered, until shrimp is cooked (about 5 minutes). Serve over hot rice. Serves 5 to 6 persons.
