Shrimp creole
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- salad oil - 3 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- garlic salt - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chili powder - 1/2 tsp
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- dash of hot sauce - 1 item
- frozen cooked shrimp - 12 oz
- can diced tomatoes - 1 oz
How to make shrimp creole:
Cook onion and celery in oil with garlic salt to taste until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with about 1 tablespoon cold water. Add to pan and cook until thick. Add shrimp and green peppers. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve over rice.Note: Recipe can be easily doubled or tripled for larger groups.
