  • sugar - 1 c
  • pkg - 1 1/8
  • water - 1/2 c
  • oil - 1/2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 4 item
  • sherry - 1/2 c
  • box yellow cake mix - 1 item
  • stick unsalted butter - 1 item
  • crushed walnuts or pecans - 1 item
  • sherry * - 1/2 c

How to make sherry cake:

*Taylor New York state golden sherry in Giant Food.

Beat the eggs. Add pudding. Mix and beat well. Add 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sherry, oil and cake mix. Beat 2 minutes. Pour over crushed walnuts or pecans in the bottom of a well-greased Bundt pan. Bake at 325° for 55 minutes.

Combine butter, sugar, 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup sherry in saucepan. (Melt butter slowly, then add ingredients.) Cook for 3 minutes. Pour over hot cake while in pan. Let stand 30 minutes; turn out on cake plate. Keeps up to 3 weeks.
