Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped celery - 2/3 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • diced chicken - 2 c
  • mayo - 1/2 c
  • Cheddar cheese - 1/2 c
  • can cream of chicken soup, undiluted - 1 item
  • slices day-old bread - 8 item

How to make shepherd's pie:

Cut and cube 4 bread slices in greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Mix chicken, pepper, celery, mayo, onion, salt and pepper and spread over bread cubes. Lay other bread cubes or slices on top. Beat egg and milk together and pour over mixture. Chill overnight in fridge.

Next day, spoon soup over top. Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Sprinkle cheese the last few minutes.
