Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
How to make sheila's irish soda bread:
Cut 1/4 lb. margarine into the above mixture. Add 2 Tbsp. caraway seeds, 1 c. raisins (loosely packed). Add 1 1/2 c. buttermilk. Stir until all moistened. Grease and flour a heavy pan or 10 inch cast iron skillet. Cut a cross into dough, bake 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350°. After about 30 minutes in oven, rub a stick of margarine over the top and around the sides of pan.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Irish.
