Shanghai duck
Ingredients/Components
- water - 1 c
- sugar or substitute - 1/4 c
- scallions, cut into 2-inch lengths - 8 item
- slices ginger root size of a half dollar - 2 item
- dark soy sauce low sodium - 1 c
- star anise 16 sections - 2 item
- light soy sauce low sodium - 1 c
How to make shanghai duck:
Place the scallions, star anise and ginger root in a large pot or pan. Place duck, breast side up. In separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients and pour over the duck. Cover and bring to a boil. Simmer on low heat for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until tender; turn every hour. Cut in small pieces and serve hot. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Main dish, Whole duck, Duck.
