  • butter, softened - 1 lb
  • sugar - 1 c
  • sifted flour - 5 c

How to make scotch shortbread:

Sift flour with sugar. Cut in butter using electric mixer or pastry blender to form dough. Press into 13 x 9-inch pan or 2 (9-inch) cake pans. Bake 5 minutes at 375° and then 45 minutes at 300°.
