  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • milk - 6 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • water - 1 c
  • coconut - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 3 Tbsp
  • confectioners sugar - 1 lb
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • In saucepan, put margarine, shortening, water and cocoa

How to make scotch chocolate cake:

Sift sugar with flour and salt. In saucepan, put margarine, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil. Pour over flour/sugar mixture. Stir soda into buttermilk. Add to batter along with eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 20 minutes. Pour following frosting over hot cake.Frosting:1 stick margarine6 Tbsp. milk3 Tbsp. cocoa1 lb. confectioners sugar1/2 c. chopped pecans1 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla In a saucepan, melt margarine; stir in milk and cocoa. Remove from heat and beat in sugar. Stir in pecans, coconut and vanilla. Pour frosting over cake immediately after cake is removed from oven.
