- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- water - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- confectioners sugar - 1 lb
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- In saucepan, put margarine, shortening, water and cocoa
How to make scotch chocolate cake:
Sift sugar with flour and salt. In saucepan, put margarine, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil. Pour over flour/sugar mixture. Stir soda into buttermilk. Add to batter along with eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 20 minutes. Pour following frosting over hot cake.Frosting:1 stick margarine6 Tbsp. milk3 Tbsp. cocoa1 lb. confectioners sugar1/2 c. chopped pecans1 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla In a saucepan, melt margarine; stir in milk and cocoa.
