- granulated sugar - 2 c
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- stick margarine - 1 item
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- vegetable shortening - 1/2 c
- In a saucepan, put margarine, shortening, cocoa and water and bring to a rapid boil and then pour over flour and sugar, mixing gradually
How to make scotch chocolate cake:
Combine flour and sugar in mixing bowl, mixing well. In a saucepan, put margarine, shortening, cocoa and water and bring to a rapid boil and then pour over flour and sugar, mixing gradually. Put soda in buttermilk and add with other ingredients. Mix and turn into a greased and floured pan, about 11 x 16-inches. Bake in a 400° oven for 30 minutes or until done.Make icing 5 minutes before cake is done and pour hot icing over hot cake. This is the recipe.Icing For Scotch Cake:1 stick margarine or butter4 Tbsp. cocoa6 Tbsp. milk Heat just to boiling.
