Ingredients/Components
- carrots - 2 item
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 1 item
- onion - 1 item
- liters water - 2 item
- g beef runner, flank or hough - 250 item
- g barley - 50 item
- g dried peas, soaked - 25 item
- g turnip - 100 item
- small parsnip - 1 item
- small piece of cabbage - 1 item
How to make scotch broth:
Scald the barley and put in pan with meat, peas and water. Bring to a boil and simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Add diced vegetables except cabbage and parsley. Season and cook slowly for 1/2 hour or until vegetables are tender. Add cabbage and boil for 10 minutes. Add parsley and serve.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Main dish, Stocks.
