Scalloped potatoes with cheese
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp
- garlic powder
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- buttered bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- large potatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick - 4 item
How to make scalloped potatoes with cheese:
Place potatoes into heavy saucepan with water and salt. Cover tightly and bring to a boil. Cook for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, melt butter in heavy saucepan. Stir in flour. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese, salt and garlic. Fold sauce into potatoes. Turn into 1 1/2-quart buttered baking dish. Top with buttered crumbs. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until mixture is bubbly and top is slightly brown.Recipe categories: Side dish, Potato, Vegetables.
