Scalloped oysters
Ingredients/Components
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- lemon juice - 1 tsp
- butter, melted - 1/2 c
- parsley flakes - 1 Tbsp
- cracker crumbs - 2 c
- minced onion - 1/4 c
- red pepper - 1/4-1 tsp
- worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- half-and-half - 1 c
- celery or seasoned salt - 3/4 tsp
- containers fresh standard oysters - 2 (12
How to make scalloped oysters:
Saut onion in butter until tender. Remove from heat and stir in butter, celery salt, red pepper and worcestershire sauce. Combine cracker crumbs and parsley flakes. Preheat oven to 350°. Drain oysters, reserving 1/3 c. liquor. Sprinkle 1/2 cup cracker crumbs in bottom of a lightly greased 8-inch square baking dish; layer half of oysters and half of remaining cracker crumb mixture. Drizzle with half of butter mixture. Repeat layers. Combine eggs, half and half, and reserved oyster liquor; mix well. Pour over oyster layers.
