Scalloped onions
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- cream - 1/2 c
- paprika - 1 item
- Parmesan cheese - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- diced celery - 1 c
- blanched, sliced almonds - 1/2 c
- small boiling onions - 12 item
How to make scalloped onions:
Simmer onions with skins on until tender. Cool slightly and peel. Saute celery in butter. Add flour, salt and pepper, milk, cream and the onions. Place in casserole and bake at 350° until bubbly and brown. Add almonds, paprika and Parmesan cheese. Return to oven for 5 to 10 minutes.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Onions.
