Ingredients/Components

  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 oz
  • thyme leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • instant minced onion - 1 Tbsp
  • chicken stock - 2 tsp
  • bulk pork sausage - 3/4 lb
  • grated American cheese - 1 c
  • marjoram leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • jar pimientos - 1 oz
  • wild rice - 1 c
  • can mushrooms or fresh - 1 oz
  • water hot
  • bell pepper flakes - 1 Tbsp

How to make sausage and wild rice casserole:

Crumble sausage and brown in a large skillet. Add pepper flakes and celery; continue cooking until celery is soft. Drain off excess fat.

Drain and chop pimientos; add to sausage mixture along with remaining ingredients, mixing well. Pour into a 3-quart casserole. Cover. Bake in a 325° oven for 1 1/2 hours or until rice is tender and dry. Serves 6 to 8.
