Sauerkraut cake
Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1/2 c
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter
- buttermilk - 1 c
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- powdered sugar - 3 c
- unsweetened chocolate - 3 oz
- hot water - 3 5
- cocoa powder - 1/2 c
- sauerkraut, drained and rinsed - 1 c
- each of: baking powder and soda - 1 tsp
How to make sauerkraut cake:
Chocolate Glaze:1/2 c. butter3 oz. unsweetened chocolate3 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. almond extract3 to 5 Tbsp. hot water Preheat oven to 350°. Blend butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until fluffy. Beat in vanilla, cocoa and milk. Blend in dry ingredients and then add sauerkraut. Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and spread glaze.Glaze: Melt butter and chocolate over low heat. Whisk in sugar, vanilla, almonds extract and water.
