Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- margarine - 2/3 c
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- water - 1 c
- sauerkraut, drained and chopped or cut up into small pieces - 1 c
- Add margarine, sugar and vanilla
- box powdered sugar - 1 lb
- pkg - 8 oz
- milk - 1 Tbsp
- pecans, chopped - 1 c
How to make sauerkraut cake:
In mixing bowl, beat eggs. Add margarine, sugar and vanilla. Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt and soda; add this mixture to the first mixture, alternating with water. Stir in sauerkraut; mix. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until center is barely set. This is very moist.Frosting:1 stick margarine1 lb. box powdered sugar8 oz. pkg. cream cheese1/4 c. cocoa1 Tbsp. milk1 c. pecans, chopped Mix sugar and cocoa, then remaining ingredients. Cover the warm cake. The sauerkraut will taste like coconut to everyone.
