  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/4 tsp
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • butter or oleo
  • canned apples - 4 sliced

How to make roman apple cake:

Topping:2 Tbsp. butter or oleo1 c. brown sugar2 Tbsp. flour2 tsp. cinnamon Combine ingredients for batter in order listed. (May also add raisins to batter with apples.) Pour into 8-inch square pan. Set aside.

Mix topping ingredients well and sprinkle over batter if desired. Bake in a 350° oven until toothpick comes out clean. Very tasty served warm with ice cream with caramel over ice cream.
