Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • evaporated milk - 1/3 c
  • confectioners sugar
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • miniature marshmallows - 1 c
  • sq - 4 oz
  • creamy peanut butter - 1/3 c
  • butter-flavored Crisco - 2/3 c

How to make rocky road bars:

Topping:1/4 c. butter-flavored Crisco1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate1/3 c. evaporated milk1/2 c. granulated sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla1 3/4 c. confectioners sugar1/3 c. creamy peanut butter1 c. miniature marshmallows Base: Melt Crisco and chocolate squares on low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring quickly. Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into chocolate mixture. Spread in 13 x 9 x 2-inch greased pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

Topping: Prepare 5 minutes before base is finished baking. Melt Crisco and chocolate square on low heat. Add milk and granulated sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Beat in confectioners sugar and vanilla. Drop peanut butter by teaspoons on top of mixture. Swirl through with tip of knife. Sprinkle marshmallows over base. Pour topping over marshmallows. Cover pan immediately with foil. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes 36 (2 x 1 1/2-inch) bars.
