Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • cooking oil - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • basil - 2 Tbsp
  • garlic clove, minced - 1 item
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • rosemary - 1 Tbsp
  • beef bouillon cube - 1 item
  • brewed coffee - 1 c
  • water, divided - 1 c
  • eye round roast - 1 item

How to make roast beef:

Heat oil in Dutch oven and brown roast on all sides. Add onion and cook until transparent. Add coffee, 3/4 cup water, bouillon, basil, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. Cover, simmer 2 1/2 hours. Combine flour and remaining water until smooth. Stir into pan juices and cook until thick.
