  • boiling water - 1 c
  • white corn meal - 1 c

How to make rhode island johnnycakes:

Stir corn meal and salt into 1 cup boiling water. Simmer for 10 minutes or until the mixture starts to thicken, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and add milk gradually, stirring until thickened. Drop by tablespoonfuls on hot, greased griddle. Serves 7.
