  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • granulated sugar
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • Crisco or butter - 1/2 c
  • red food coloring 2 bottles - 2 oz

How to make red velvet cake:

Mix coloring and cocoa and set aside. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Sift flour and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk. Mix vinegar and baking soda and add to mixture. Add vanilla and coloring mixture. Put in greased pans and bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
