  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • plain flour
  • hot water - 1 Tbsp
  • plus 1 tsp - 1 c
  • bottles red food coloring - 2 oz
  • Then add red food coloring and cocoa

How to make red velvet cake:

Mix Crisco, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Then add red food coloring and cocoa. Next, add flour, buttermilk and salt. In a small cup, mix water, vinegar and soda, then add to cake mixture and mix well. Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan or 3 small round pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.Icing:1 box powdered sugar1 stick butter1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
