  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • self-rising flour
  • cooking oil
  • Sift flour and soda together
  • small bottle red food color - 1 item

How to make red velvet cake:

Beat eggs; add sugar, oil and vinegar. Sift flour and soda together. Mix flour and buttermilk alternately with egg mixture. Add vanilla and food coloring. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until cake edges separate from pan (makes 3 layers).Icing:1 box powdered sugar1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 stick butter1 c. chopped nuts Melt butter and cheese; add sugar and one cup chopped nuts.
