Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2/3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- Nestle Quik - 3 Tbsp
- Icing:1 stick butter
- red food color - 2 oz
How to make red velvet cake:
Icing:1 stick butter1/2 c. Crisco1 c. sugar2/3 c. milk1 tsp. vanilla6 to 10 Tbsp. flour Mix red food coloring and Nestle Quik together. Cream Crisco and sugar. Add 2 eggs; color mixture. Beat 12 minutes. Add alternating with buttermilk, flour, salt and vanilla. Remove batter. Add soda and vinegar. Mix well. Bake in a sheet pan or 8-inch cake pan at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.For icing, mix all ingredients with the flour. Beat 6 to 10 minutes.
