  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • red food coloring - 1 oz
  • Wesson oil - 1 c
  • In small bowl, combine coloring, cocoa and vinegar

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream oil and sugar; add eggs and beat. In small bowl, combine coloring, cocoa and vinegar. Add to egg mixture. Alternate flour and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Bake in greased and floured 8-inch pans in a 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes.Icing:1 stick margarine1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 box confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped pecans Cream the margarine, cream cheese and sugar; add vanilla. Stir in nuts and frost tops and sides of cooled layers.
