  • sugar
  • cream cheese
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vegetable oil
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • xxxx confectioners sugar - 1 lb

How to make red velvet cake:

Frosting:8 oz. cream cheese1 lb. xxxx confectioners sugar1/2 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla Cake: Sift flour, salt and soda. Cream sugar, buttermilk, eggs and vegetable oil. Blend dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Add vanilla, coloring and vinegar. Turn into 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

Frosting: Mix all ingredients except vanilla in mixer until smooth. Add vanilla and mix well. Spread on cool cake.
