- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- stick butter - 1 item
- dash of salt - 1 item
- sifted cake flour
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- white vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Quik chocolate drink mix - 3 Tbsp
- Sift flour, salt and drink mix
How to make red velvet cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Sift flour, salt and drink mix. Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Blend. Add food coloring and vanilla. Mix buttermilk, vinegar and soda. Add alternately with dry ingredients. Bake 30 minutes.Red Velvet Cake Icing:4 Tbsp. flour1 c. milk1 c. sugar1 stick butter1/2 c. shortening dash of salt1/4 tsp. vanilla Blend flour and milk.
