- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- oil - 3/4 c
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- red food coloring - 1 oz
- buttermilk - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 3/4 c
How to make red velvet cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa into a large bowl. Cream oil, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs; add color to this. Combine buttermilk and soda; add to oil mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add vinegar and vanilla; mix well. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Bring 1/2 cup sugar and milk to boil; spoon over cooled cake before frosting with Cream Cheese Frosting.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, American.
