Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- sugar
- Wesson oil
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- red food coloring - 2 bottles
- plain flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- Bake at 325° in three layers about 25 minutes
- pkg - 8 oz
- stick margarine - 1 item
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- a little milk if too stiff - 1 item
- Optional Icing:2 sticks margarine
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
How to make red velvet cake:
Mix all ingredients as listed, beating after each addition. Bake at 325° in three layers (about 25 minutes).Icing:1 box confectioners sugar8 oz. pkg. cream cheese1 stick margarine1 c. chopped nuts a little milk (if too stiff) Beat with electric mixer and ice between layers and top.Optional Icing:2 sticks margarine1 tsp. vanilla1 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cornstarch1 c. water Cream margarine, vanilla and sugar. Mix until fluffy. Cook cornstarch and water. Cook thick; stir often. Cool and add to creamed mixture and beat until like whipped cream.
