- sugar
- vanilla - 2 Tbsp
- salt
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 1 oz
- cake flour
- whole eggs - 2 item
How to make red cake:
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and cream until well blended. Mix food coloring and cocoa together and add to the creamed mixture. Sift salt, soda and cake flour. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Fold, but do not beat. Bake in 3 (9-inch) pans at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
