Red cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- caraway seed - 1 tsp
- salt optional - 1 tsp
- small onion - 1 item
- slices bacon - 3 item
- few dashes of pepper - 1 item
- medium red cabbage, finely shredded - 1 item
- tart chopped apple - 1 item
How to make red cabbage:
Saute bacon and chopped onion in bacon fat. Do not drain. Mix all ingredients and cook on very low heat (in heavy bottom pot or kettle) for about 1/2 hour. Very good with pork chops, ham or fried chicken. Makes 5 servings.Recipe categories: Low protein, Side dish, Vegetables.
