  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • caraway seed - 1 tsp
  • salt optional - 1 tsp
  • small onion - 1 item
  • slices bacon - 3 item
  • few dashes of pepper - 1 item
  • medium red cabbage, finely shredded - 1 item
  • tart chopped apple - 1 item

How to make red cabbage:

Saute bacon and chopped onion in bacon fat. Do not drain. Mix all ingredients and cook on very low heat (in heavy bottom pot or kettle) for about 1/2 hour. Very good with pork chops, ham or fried chicken. Makes 5 servings.
