Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- brown sugar - 3/4 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- sifted flour - 2 c
- allspice - 1/4 tsp
- apples, chopped and peeled - 4 c
- Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture
How to make raw apple cake:
Cream shortening and sugar, beat well; add eggs and beat. Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture. Add apples and nuts. Batter will be real stiff. Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes. When cool, spread with topping.Topping:1/3 c. oleo or butter3/4 c. brown sugar1/3 c. milk1 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Put oleo or butter in saucepan, stir in brown sugar. Cook and stir over low heat for 2 minutes. Add milk and continue stirring until boiling, remove from heat and cool to lukewarm. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
