How to make raisin energy bars:
Simmer the first 5 ingredients in a sauce pan till thick (they won't get really thick). Take off heat, add vanilla and cool.Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add rest of dry ingredients. Mix in melted margarine. Pat 1/2 to 3/4 firmly into greased 15 x 10 inch jelly roll pan. Spread with raisin mixture. Sprinkle with remaining dry mix. Bake at 325° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars. I use butter instead of margarine and I do not add the nuts.
