Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/3 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/3 c
- flour - 3 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- boiling water - 1 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- pitted dates, chopped - 1 c
How to make queen elizabeth cake:
Pour boiling water over dates and add soda; let set until cool. Cream butter or margarine; add sugar and stir until well mixed. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts and mix well. Add the cooked dates and water. Bake in a greased 13 x 9 inch pan at 325° for 35 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Low sodium.
