Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- cloves - 1 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- white Karo - 1 Tbsp
- chopped pecans or walnuts - 1 c
- Wesson oil - 1 c
- box prunes - 1 oz
How to make prune cake:
Topping:1 c. sugar1/2 c. buttermilk1 Tbsp. white Karo1/2 tsp. soda1/2 tsp. vanilla Cook prunes in water, no sugar added, until soft. Cool and cut into small pieces.Mix all dry ingredients together, including spices. Add eggs, oil and buttermilk. Beat well. Add flavorings, nuts and prunes. Mix. Bake in greased 9 x 13-inch pan at 300° for 1 hour or until done. About 5 minutes before cake is done, make topping.
Mix all topping ingredients together in saucepan and boil for 3 minutes. When cake is removed from oven, pour hot topping over cake. Cool and serve.
